Announcing the Largest Ever Vote by Mail Program in Pennsylvania
We’re Erasing the Democrats’ Advantage
On October 25, 2022, John Fetterman gave one of the most shocking and disastrous debate performances in political history. It did not matter.
The next day, a Washington Examiner headline correctly predicted: “Fetterman could be saved by early voting despite debate disaster gift to Oz.”
Fetterman received 960,405 early votes; Oz received 234,371. Before Election Day voting even began, Fetterman already had a 726,034 vote lead. This is incredible when you consider Fetterman won by only 263,752 votes.
No sports team has ever won a game by intentionally letting their opponents run up the score in the first half. It’s a losing strategy and 2022 will be remembered as the last time Republicans tried it in Pennsylvania.
In 2024, There’s a New Game Plan
Embracing early and absentee voting is key for Republican victories in 2024.
The Sentinel Action Fund is teaming up with the Republican State Leadership Committee PAC (RSLC) and Keystone Renewal PAC to launch the largest ever Pennsylvania vote by mail program.
Together, we are making an eight-figure investment that will put Republicans in a strong position to challenge the Democrats’ vote-by-mail advantage. This effort will ensure Republican victories up and down the ballot in Pennsylvania.
To bank these votes, we will be using an “all of the above” approach on tactics: data-driven targeting, ads, mail, texts, and in-person conversations on their doorstep. Under Pennsylvania law, organizations cannot hand-collect ballots, but we will be laser-focused on informing voters how they can vote early and return their ballots by mail.
A major part of this effort is equipping voters with the “how to” information they need. Pennsylvania voters can go to skipthelinepa.vote to get all their questions answered.
Why Vote-by-Mail Delivers Wins
Elections are primarily about two things: ideas & turnout. You need to find everyone who agrees with you, and you need to turn them out to vote.
With finite resources, it’s hard to get everyone who agrees with you to turn out on a single day. But if you can get some of your voters to vote early, it frees up time, manpower, and money to go find more voters who agree with you and then get them to vote too!
Importantly, our vote-by-mail effort in Pennsylvania will be finding the people who agree with us, but may not have voted in-person on Election Day. We’re increasing the total number of Republican ballots cast.
And we know vote by mail delivers wins because we tested our strategy in 2023 in Virginia. Our vote by mail program increased turnout among our targets by 26.8%. We drove up the early vote, and in three separate races where Republican candidates won, the increase in early votes exceeded the total margin of victory.
Overcoming Concerns
Some on the right are skeptical of early voting, but past cycles have made it clear that the key to winning is using all legal tools and tactics at our disposal, just like the Left has done for decades. We can and should do two things at once: Call for election integrity reforms and utilize all tactics needed to win including mail in ballots, ballot chasing where legal, early vote and Election Day turnout.
Two weeks ago, I laid out a strategy to address many common concerns. For instance, our January polling found that 44% of Republicans say they are more likely to vote early when informed that “Voting early prevents potential election day mishaps from keeping you from voting, ensuring that your vote is cast and counted.”
To win in 2024, Republicans need to win by a large enough margin to overcome any instances of fraud. Or, as President Trump has put it, make sure that our numbers are “too big to rig.”
